Mary and Laura attended the SAOR training last week: SAOR (Support, Ask and Assess, Offer Assistance, Refer) offers a step-by-step guide for practice, to guide workers in using a person-centred approach throughout their conversation, encounter or engagement with a person using their service. SAOR supports workers from their first point of contact with a person using their service to enable them to deliver brief interventions and to facilitate those presenting with more complex needs with entry into treatment programmes in line with the National Drug Rehabilitation Framework
All the trainings we participate in are to inform and support the work we provide to families in Dublin 15.
D15 Family Support Service continue to offer 5 step method to family members affected by a loved ones drug or alcohol misuse in a safe and confidential space. The 5-Step Method is a brief talking treatment which helps people who are impacted by a loved ones alcohol, drug or gambling addiction. It is one of the few interventions which considers the individual as having needs in their own right, rather than being part of their loved one’s treatment. It is named as a recommended intervention for affected family members in the national strategy to respond to the harm caused by substance use in Ireland; Reducing harm, Supporting Recovery 2017-2025.
